Does He Like Us?

SEPTEMBER 5TH, 2021      |      Many believers grew up singing the song, “Jesus Loves Me.” Why do we believe He loves us? As the song says, “Because the Bible tells me so.” We believe that He loves us, but do we believe that He likes us?

We love our children; but if we’re honest, there are times when we don’t like them very much. A rebellious teenager rolling their eyes or a defiant two-year-old often make it hard to like them in that moment.

Do we transpose that attitude to our Father God? Do we believe that He loves us, but that He couldn’t possibly like us as we are? God meets us right where we are—rebellious, disrespectful, and unlovable. Yet, He is patient and kind! He sees who we can be in spite of our many flaws, and He loves us just as we are. Thankfully God likes us too much to leave us there in that flawed state.

Just as we do with our children, God is constantly shaping us into the sons and daughters He knows we can be. God said that He loves us, and then Jesus proved it on the Cross. He is our loving Father forever!

Does He Like Us?

And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.

–James 2:23 NIV

Ask God to help you see yourself through His eyes—loved and forgiven. Don’t let your past define You; let God define you.

Spend time today thanking God for loving and liking you despite your flaws.
