And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba Father.” –Galatians 4:6 NLT
It may be challenging for you to deal with feelings about your earthly dad. You may have grown up with a father who was not involved in your life, too busy with work and other interests. Your thoughts of a loving childhood are only painful memories. You may have forgiven him, but disappointment and rejection are hidden deep within your heart making today an unpleasant date on the calendar. But Galatians 4:7 (NIV) tells you, “So you are no longer a slave but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.”You have a heavenly Father who loves you and sent His Son to die for you. He will never disappoint you. Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV) says, “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”Whatever happened in the past, guard your heart and know you are the apple of God’s eye. Colossians 1:12 (NLT) says, “Always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light.”You can fully enjoy this Father’s Day because you are a child of the King of kings, and you can call Him, “Abba Father.”
Pray to God the Father to heal any hurts you may have about your earthly dad.
Thank your heavenly Father for being the only security you truly need.
