Our Nation: Living as a Blessed Nation

There will always be debates about whether presidents and other elected officials are operating with the mind of Christ. However, no matter what is happening in politics, we can trust that God is in control. In 1 Peter 2:13-14 (NLT), Peter tells us that we must submit to our government officials: “For the Lord’s sake, submit to all human authority—whether the king as head of state, or the officials he has appointed….”

Regardless of who sits in the Oval Office, Jesus is King. The Bible makes it clear that any nation that keeps its eyes fixed on Him will prosper. Psalm 33:12 (NIV) says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.”

The United States of America is a blessed nation. We’re safe, food and water are plentiful, most people have jobs, and quality healthcare is all around us. In addition, we can worship God without fearing for our lives.

Our leaders do a good job of protecting these blessings. Life is not perfect, but the hand of God on our nation is obvious. Let us give thanks to our military, first responders, and federal and local governments for preserving the freedoms we know and cherish.

Thank God for the blessings and freedoms we get to take part in by living in the United States.

Pray for spiritual renewal and revival in our country.
