My soul, praise the LORD, and do not forget all His benefits. -Psalm 103:2 HCSB
The Bible tells you over 365 times not to worry and to, “Cast your cares on the Lord,” (Psalm 55:22). A “care” is any burden you carry that is too heavy for you, so that it becomes all-consuming and shifts your focus from God. Counting your blessings and remembering all that the Lord has done and has promised to do in and through you shifts your focus back to where it belongs: on God and on His mighty power.
Psalm 103:3-5 lists the benefits of walking closely with the Lord: He forgives all your sins, heals all your diseases, redeems your life from the pit, crowns [surrounds] you with faithful love and compassion, and satisfies your desires with good things.
In light of all of this, it’s hard to be wearied by the worries of this world. The next time you can’t sleep or are burdened by cares that are too heavy for you, cast the lot of them onto the Lord and sleep in peace.
