Confident Trust

In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for You, Lord, alone make me dwell in safety and confident trust. -Psalm 4:8 AMP

For years, Susie’s mom had a picture in the bathroom that said, “Before you go to bed, give all your troubles to God. He will be up all night anyway.”

If you search the Internet you can find there are nearly 1.5 million articles on symptoms of lack of sleep. An article by WebMD stated 10 effects of sleeplessness, which include impaired cognitive processes, greater risk for heart issues, and depression, just to name a few.

While there are many physical things that can cause exhaustion, a lack of peace will also lead to exhaustion. You have to make the choice to keep your peace because the enemy is out to steal it. When things don’t go as planned, you can make the decision to keep your peace.

Psalm 4:8 says that the Lord will cause you to dwell in confident trust. You are to live, stay, and abide in a sense of assured dependence in God. Too often we run around looking for things that will give us a peaceful night’s sleep. If you would just do like Susie’s picture says and give all your troubles to God, and not take them back, then not only will you lie down and sleep in peace, but you can wake up in it, as well.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray that as a church we would grow in our relationship with Christ.
  • Pray, individually, that your love for God would increase.
