Changing Course

AUGUST 24TH, 2020      |        There are a variety of reasons why a ship’s captain may need to change course. He may need to avoid a collision with another ship or an iceberg. Perhaps, he must skirt around a storm or correct a wrong turn that is leading the ship in the wrong direction. We are each captain of our own ship; and as Christians, it is important that we periodically pause to determine if we are heading in the right direction toward our goal. The Lord clearly outlined our mission in Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV): “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

In your current life circumstances, are you headed toward the goal? Are there obstacles in the way? How might you steer your vessel to begin heading in the right direction, avoiding the obstructions? Take the time to examine your direction, including your activities, associations, and actions, knowing that God is with you, helping to guide your vessel to His safe harbor.

CHANGING COURSE

I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Pray that the Lord will reveal obstacles that are preventing you from fulfilling His mission for your life.

Pray that the Lord will guide you in changing your course when needed.
