The Lord is my shepherd… –Psalm 23 NIV
Bring it On
There are times in life when you feel like throwing in the towel and crying uncle. Days when everything that can go wrong, does. Everything breaks, bleeds, or bashes your head in. In short, life often gets messy. However, what good does it do to feel sorry for ourselves, whine, or just give up?
Is it only when we’re on the mountaintop that we can praise God for His goodness? Aren’t we in the valley more often than the mountaintop anyway? What if we truly understood the meaning of the song “We Bring the Sacrifice of Praise”? Can we genuinely be thankful, when quite frankly we don’t see anything to be thankful for?
Isn’t it true that God is our Shepherd, especially in the valley of death? Isn’t it true that He leads us by still waters, rich green pastures, and anoints our heads with oil? Doesn’t He prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemies? Isn’t it true that He restores our soul? Doesn’t He promise goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives? Yes… Yes… Yes!
When we know in whom we believe, we are not moved by the trials of life. Bring it on world, the Father always triumphs.
When things get tough, get tougher. Stand on the merits of the Father, not your own.
You won’t feel like praising in the heat of the battle. Yet, do it anyway!
