The Blanket

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] -Matthew 11:28 AMP

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] -Matthew 11:28 AMP

When you sleep at night, you cover yourself with a blanket, bringing you relaxation. When a child is growing up, sometimes they carry their blanket with them everywhere they go, offering the child a soft sense of security. Regardless of the weather outside, we all like the comfort, security, and softness that a blanket brings.

The Holy Spirit is like your blanket. He speaks truth, bringing you peace to your heart and mind. He offers wisdom and guidance, but you must be quiet enough to listen to all that He offers. To take full advantage of all the benefits that a blanket or the Holy Spirit offers, you must first shed all baggage and burdens.

Think about it, you don’t normally sit on the couch or in your favorite chair snuggled under a blanket with your purse over your shoulder, your backpack on your back, or briefcase still in hand. Instead, you take them off and put them down before settling in. The same is true with the Holy Spirit. You must put down your baggage and burdens so that He can speak into your heart, bringing you comfort, healing, guidance, and direction.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray for God to reveal to you the burdens that are weighing you down. Then ask Him to remove them.
  • Pray you can show comfort and love to someone around you today.
