...See, I have given into your hand Sihon theAmorite, king of Heshbon, and his country. Begin to take possession of it and engage him in battle. –Deuteronomy 2:24 NIV
How many times have you put off something because you could not imagine success? Fear of failure often stunts our achievements. If you can see the whole process, including the final outcome, you are likely not dreaming big enough. This point is illustrated in Deuteronomy 2.The Israelites passed through two regions that would have been easy conquests, but God instructed them to keep going. Then, they came to a more powerful enemy, the King of Heshbon. The Lord hardened that king’s heart, and he refused to allow the Israelites to pass. It was probably difficult for the Israelites to imagine defeating such a formidable foe. The success of God’s chosen people hinged on one directive. They had to be obedient in taking the first step and begin taking possession of their enemy’s land.Notice that God did not say, “Take possession.” He said, “Begin to take possession”. He required that they merely take one step in the right direction, completing the first action toward success. Ultimately, the victory was theirs. Is there a dream that you think is too big to achieve? Trust in the Lord and let Him guide you towards victory. You must first begin to take the land God has given you. Will you?
Ask God for direction in your day, and for the courage to begin the first steps toward achieving the goal.
Praise God for His help and guidance in every challenge that faces you.
