Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction, and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. They area garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck. –Proverbs 1:8-9 NIV
Young people often make the mistake of ignoring the advice and wisdom of the generations that have gone before them. Rather, they make short-sighted choices that have far-reaching consequences. Later in life, most can see the advantages of learning from those who have more experience and insight. Often those who aren’t well-grounded in the faith, make a similar mistake spiritually.Without a solid foundation built upon the Word of God, it’s easy to overvalue what emotions or circumstances seem to tell us. As a result, we find ourselves making easily avoidable mistakes. But as we begin to mature in the Lord, learning to listen to what He says through the Scriptures and mature Christians, God’s truth rises to the surface and becomes more valuable than the voices in the world. As we follow and obey His instructions, they will encircle our lives with honor and spiritual blessings, adorning us with the rich beauty of godliness, faithfulness, and devotion that will attract others to the Lord.
Ask God for eyes to see the superiority of His Word to any false truth in the world today.
