Abba Father

JUNE 20TH, 2020      |       As Father’s Day approaches, it may be difficult for you to celebrate. You may be carrying deep wounds in your heart. Perhaps, your father was never home or when he was home all that occurred was abuse. He was supposed to care for you, but all you felt was rejection. You questioned, “Why is this happening?” If that is the case, you are left with a tainted imprint of what a loving and caring father is like.

But there is a difference between your earthly father and your heavenly Father. Let God define Father. God calls Himself, “Abba Father.” He adopted you, and all you have to do is believe His words. You were made to have the love of a father—your Abba Father. You are adopted. Second Corinthians 6:18 (NIV) tells you, “‘I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,’ says the Lord Almighty.” He also tells you in Psalm 27:10 (NLT), “Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close.” Your Abba Father sees all your pain. Your earthly father may disappoint you, but your heavenly Father never will.

Abba Father

So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”

–Romans 8:15 NLT

Draw near to the Father. He always is here for you. Trust Him.
