5 Tips For When Your Holidays Don’t Look Like You Dreamed

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. -Colossians 3:2 NIV

1) Don’t forget how blessed you are and that you have power over your actions. You are ridiculously blessed, but when you compare your messy holidays to someone else’s you feel slighted. You have the ability to change your holidays.

2) Let go of any expectations or pressure you have put on yourself. Obviously, you aren’t going to be able to enjoy your holiday if you are obsessed with whether or not everyone else is. Let go of that pressure.

3) Stay off social media. This one probably goes without saying, but if social media is making your day worse, stay off it.

4) Make your own holiday traditions. Don’t let what everyone else is doing pressure you into doing something that doesn’t work for your family.

5) Be proactive and create a plan to make the next holiday more of what you want for your family. If your last holiday didn’t live up to what you dreamed, troubleshoot what you could do to make it better.

The Bonus Tip: Pray. Before, after, and especially, during, find some time to be alone with God to align your heart with His.
