3 Lies That Will Hold You Back

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. -Isaiah 40:28 NIV

LIE 1: I’m not enough. There is nothing special about me.

TRUTH: You are special, worthy, and enough because God says so! God made you! God’s hand created you, and His Holy Spirit dwells within you. He’s enough, and when He’s in you, you are! (Psalm 139:14)

LIE 2: I don’t have enough resources to pursue my passions.

TRUTH: We serve a God with infinite resources and love. If there is something that God has called you to, you can trust that He will equip you. You were never meant to do this alone. (Isaiah 40:28)

LIE 3: My past excludes me from being used by Christ.

TRUTH: Not a single one of us is sin-free. We are all messes, and God is glorifies in our mess. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard (Romans 3:23 NLT). Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me (2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT).

We don’t pursue our passions to make much of us. The whole purpose of callings and gifts are to make much of Him and love others well. More God, less us. What lies are holding you back? What Truth can you refute them with?
